Sammamish River Trail #1 in the West

Sunset Magazine has once again lauded Redmond for it's great biking community!  This time the Sammamish River Trail was recognized as the #1 bike trail in the west! The Sammamish River Trail is nearly 11 miles long, running from Bothell to Marymoor Park in Redmond.  It connects to the Burke-Gilman trail for uninterrupted trail access to Seattle.  Along the way, the path provides views of the Cascades, Mount Rainier, and the agricultural river valley.  Part of the trail includes Redmond's RiverWalk, where trail users can see salmon, heron, otters, and other wildlife that have come back to the rehabilitated portion of the river.

Redmond resident Malia Kawaguchi recently told Impact Redmond about becoming a convert to biking, and the Sammamish River Trail was a part of her transition to giving up the car.  (See her case study here)

Sunset had recognized the City of Redmond as one of the best suburban biking communities in the June article, "Take Back the Burbs."
