Redmond’s LEED Platinum Housing Project Recognized

The City of Redmond received two Governor’s Smart Communities Awards for 2012.  This program recognizes the outstanding efforts of local communities and their partners throughout Washington to create quality communities.

 

One of the projects, Tudor Manor, is Redmond’s first residential project to have achieved LEED Platinum Certification.  LEED (Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.  LEED homes will

 

Tudor Manor was developed using environmentally sustainable construction practices, installing high efficiency plumbing and heating systems in consideration of long term maintenance requirements.


Not only is Tudor Manor leading the way in sustainable housing options for Redmond, it is providing affordable housing choices near transit lines and local jobs.   “The Tudor Manor project represents an innovative solution to the ever present and growing pressure on housing supply and cost. Sustainable building practices were wholly integrated with the provision of affordable housing choices.” Robert Pantley, of Natural and Built Environments, LLC, stated in the press release. 


Redmond currently has nine certified LEED buildings.  The City of Redmond has a Green Building incentive program to encourage more sustainable development within the city.
